I’ve come across this point, but I think it misses the mark. The states that contribute the most to US Federal taxes are largely the most populous states. More people, generally more taxes collected. Texas is on that list, but Texas has no income taxes, leading me to believe that they probably don’t have much of a population that benefitted from SALT deductions. I’m afraid the consideration you bring up would suggest that, somehow, the tax system should be arranged to kick back some of the taxes that Texans would otherwise be expected to pay.
