Delay, delay, delay. Some things never seem to get old.

My spirt has been lifted ever since Biden decided to abandon his effort to seek reelection and endorsed Kamala Harris. At this point, it’s beyond question that if beating Trump was the Democrat’s priority, Biden made the right call. With him as the Democratic candidate, the prospect of a Trump victory loomed large. Now, not so much.
Besides eliminating the age factor, the Harris/Walz ticket changed the tone and message from that of the Biden campaign. The Biden campaign certainly trumpeted its perceived successes, but much of their communications relied heavily on the cause of saving democracy as perhaps the largest single rationale for voting for Biden. It seems, however, that this message wasn’t really attracting all that many new voters to the Biden camp. Harris and Walz have largely backburnered this trope.
It hasn’t bothered me that this idea isn’t being talked about all that much. It has bothered me, however, that I’m not hearing nearly enough from Harris and Walz about the fragility of the rule of law or, more precisely, the need for our justice system to undertake significant reforms. Republicans worry about the justice system being weaponized. I worry about the justice system being abused by litigants who misuse the protections of our system to delay and possibly avoid the…
